I’ve got another spread in my large Dylusions journal to share today, and it’s one of my favourites.
I love the look of faces – in journals, paintings, sketches, you name it. But frankly, they are not my strong suit. So when the lovely Julie of Balzer Designs bought out some new stencils, I just couldn’t resist. This spread uses the Profile stencil and it is seriously cool. A couple of minutes with a sponge and a stencil and it looks like I can actually paint!
Materials: Dylusions journal, Balzer Designs Profile stencil, Dylusions Alpha Jumble stencil, October Afternoon Mini Market alpha stickers, 7gypsies tissue paper, Lil Davis foam alpha stamps, Stampers Anonymous splatter stamp, Rollergraph typewriter stamp, SEI Tumble Dye spray, Golden acrylic paints, Liquitex gesso, Sharpie paint pen, Archival black ink.
I wanted to take a minute to share with you my sources for great art journaling supplies here in Australia. It can be so difficult to find overseas stockists that are willing to ship to Oz, and when they do, the cost is often through the roof. Most of what I use has been sourced through two stores that I highly recommend: Blue Bazaar and Kazmos Kreations.
Admittedly, I do still have to scour Ebay for the odd goodie here and there, but between Kazmos and the Bazaar I can generally find what I need.
Just to be clear, I am in no way affiliated with either store, just a happy customer. If you’re a fellow Aussie with a great source for artsy goodness, I’d love to hear about it… What can I say, I like to shop!
Have you mastered a new skill lately, or found a way to fake it like I did with this stencil? I’d love to hear about it or see the results, so feel free to drop me a line in the comment section.
